About Kolcraft Enterprises, Inc
Kolcraft started in Chicago in 1946 when Leo Koltun made playpen pads out of cotton batting and oilcloth covers for post World War II babies. In 1949, he found himself with surplus padding and used his ingenuity to invent the all-around crib and playard bumper pad.
A period of rapid growth followed as the company expanded into manufacturing other types of pads including Crib Mattresses in 1951. Since that time, Kolcraft has become America's #1 Crib Mattress manufacturer.
In 1979, Kolcraft began making plastic products with the introduction of the innovative Carri-Cradle; the first combination plastic infant carrier and rocker with a carrying handle.
